Candidate Screener – Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 1, 2026

Overview

Candidate Screener is a Chrome extension that helps employers identify potentially fraudulent job applicants by checking phone carrier type and email address patterns. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data We Collect

Candidate Screener does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our own servers. All candidate information you enter (name, phone number, email) is processed locally in your browser and is not saved after the extension popup is closed.

Third-Party Services

When you screen a candidate, the phone number you enter is sent to the NumVerify API (apilayer.net) to determine the phone carrier and line type. This request is made directly from your browser. We encourage you to review NumVerify's privacy policy at apilayer.net for details on how they handle data.

Local Storage

The extension uses Chrome's local storage solely to save your API key so it persists between sessions. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share any user data with third parties. No analytics, tracking, or advertising tools are used.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
